Since there was a little speculation regarding the cat name origins, kalamosgames and I thought it might be nice to make a post outlining the inspiration for each of the cat names in the game. As players likely have already guessed, we thought it'd be great fun to name our cats after famous cats(and cat-related-characters) of fiction.

Without further ado, in order of appearance;

Grizabella- A central character in Cats the musical

Jiji- Kiki's cat from Kiki's Delivery Service

Kyo- One of the main characters of Fruits Basket

Artemis- Sailor Venus's guardian in Sailor Moon

Pluto- The pet cat featured in Edgar Allan Poe's short story The Black Cat

Mimmy- Hello Kitty's little sister (kitty seemed a bit too on-the-nose)

Bernkastel- A side character from Umineko

Jonesy- The pet cat featured in the movie Alien

Toulouse, Marie and Berlioz- The names of the three main characters of The Aristocats

Beerus- Lord Beerus, a character from the Dragonball anime series

Biggles- Mr. Bigglesworth, a pet cat featured in the Austin Powers film series

Raha- G'raha Tia, a cutie pie character in Critically Acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy 14

Carolyn- Princess Carolyn, a central character from Bojack Horseman

Peach- A dearly beloved real human 

Heathcliff- The titular cat character of Heathcliff the cartoon. It's me, Cathy, I've come ho-o-o-ome, let me into your window woah ah ho oh

Spot- The pet cat of Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation

Greebo- A character in the Discworld book series
